Although virtually unrelated,
Bailey looks amazingly like
Revlon, often being
mistaken for her or thought to be a daughter. She is almost
exactly the same size and smooth, so it's easy to see why.
Bailey was my wedding gift to my son & daughter-in-law and
lives with them in Virginia, so I very seldom get to show
her, but on those occasions when I do, she usually wins the
over smooth bitch class. She's done just that at both '98
and '99 U.S. Nationals.
It certainly
appears that Bailey is also going to be very much like Revlon as
a producer; it seems that no matter who she is bred to, her
offspring are outstanding. Her first litter by
Bear produced
Sow's Ear Gabby, now owned
by Jerrilyn Cloud of Texas Star Jack Russells, and
Sow's Ear Cally. Gabby had
a fantastic show ring career as a puppy, and as an adult, has
continued on with her winning ways. A dynamite worker, she
earned her NHC early on, and I have to say she is one hard but
smart bitch. Even after two litters of puppies, Gabby is still
bringing home Working Championships. Cally is nearly identical,
and she too lives with Mike and Rose at
Mill Mountain.
Her conformation career was cut short before it even began when
she broke a rear leg so badly it required pinning in a rather
difficult surgery. But, she made a fantastic recovery and
together, she and Bailey do major damage to the groundhog
population in Roanoke. Also from that litter was
Sow's Ear Sadie, who was
the '99 Canadian National 4-6 Month Puppy Champion.
Her second
litter, by
Windermere Absolut produced
Sow's Ear Captain Morgan
and Sow's
Ear Seiko. Both gorgeous smooth dogs, they not
only are nearly identical but also are almost clones of their
mother. Both have had very successful show ring careers, with
multiple puppy and adult Championships. And both boys look to
be very promising sires as well, particularly Morgan. Also in
that litter was the bitch
Sow's Ear Olive, who in very
limited showing, has almost always won her under smooth bitch
class, even at Nationals in 2002. Olive has just whelped her
litter by Bear, and they look very promising indeed--so much so
that a dog pup from that litter,
Sow's Ear Rubbish,
is going to hang around for a
while! The bitch from that litter,
Sow's Ear Clicquot, is now
living with and will be shown by the Thornton's of The Folly
Terriers.
Her litter by
Max was lovely as well, and the pick bitch,
Sow's Ear
Clinique, now
lives with Kathy Cook and Captain Morgan of JacKat's
Farm
in Virginia.
Even at 6
years of age, Bailey still managed to compete against much
younger bitches at the 2002 U.S. Nationals and still pin in the
Open class!! She, like Revlon, is going to make a lovely
Veteran. |
