"Fry"
is just over a year old, and all I can say is I wish I had 3 or 4 more just like her.
She's a handy size, yet for a little bitch, has flawless movement and covers an
amazing amount of ground effortlessly. She is narrow, flexible, has a beautiful
front end assembly, and is perfectly balanced.
She is another that is
a cracker in the field; I suspect that she might turn out to be one of those dogs
who is going to bolt just about anything she comes in contact with. With her shrill,
intense voice, I know I sure wouldn't stay in a hole with her for any length of time!
She earned her Hunting certificate to groundhog in just this way, bolting a chuck
in very little time, despite getting a fairly decent bite for her trouble. She's
been shown very little, as she was traumatized early by some kids who scooped her up out
of the ex-pen while I wasn't';t looking and squeezed her almost to death.
Consequently, being spanned by a stranger isn't high on her favorite list.
But hunting her is making the difference; she could care less who pulls her out of
a hole in the field, and is slowly getting better in the conformation ring as a result.
But despite this early setback, she has managed one Puppy Championship, and most
recently, in her first time out as an adult, she was Working Terrier Champion at OH-PA.
But even if she never shows for me, this little double-Sailor bitch is worth her
weight in gold as a hunter and brood bitch. Fry is my first attempt at doubling up
on Sailor; I've done it since with even better results. My goal is to
concentrate this invaluable bloodline while I still have the direct descendants to do so,
and Fry is a very important part of this equation.
