Fry has matured into
an exquisite bitch; she is perfectly balanced and it takes
just watching her move to verify that point. Undoubtedly
she is one of the best moving dogs I've ever bred....second
only to
Lasher...........maybe.
She has that gorgeous Sailor head, lovely neck, beautiful
topline and has remained dead narrow.
She is a cracker in the field, a very enthusiastic worker.
I finally gave up on showing her, as she just never got
over being traumatized as a young puppy when she was scooped
up out of my ex-pen by some kids and nearly squeezed to
death. She did fairly well early on, with not only Puppy
Championships but also a Best Working Bitch & Working
Terrier Championship, but it clearly was too stressful to
have a judge go over her, particularly when she had to be
spanned. So as frustrating as it was to have a bitch this
nice that can't be shown, she makes up for it in the hunt
field. When she's working, she somehow forgets all about
being afraid of strangers, and anyone is able to pull her
out of a hole. But in the fall of 2002, Fry went to live
with Deb LaMantia of
Brookside Jack
Russells
on a co-ownership,
and seems to be making a miraculous turn-around! Deb and I
have worked hard on her all year, and she not only is now
racing and going through the hole, but seems to be getting
better in the ring as well. So it just may be that she'll
be our "comeback kid".........
Her first litter by Bear was extremely nice, producing a
very consistent litter. One of the bitch pups,
Sow's Ear
Slider, managed
to place third in the huge 4-6 Month Rough Puppy Bitch class
at the 2001 U.S. Nationals.....her very first show! From
that same litter,
Sow's Ear
White Diamonds
is as nice a bitch, if not better. And
her second litter by Max seems to be nicer yet;
Sow's Ear
Refund did
extremely well the few times he was shown, taking a Reserve
4-6 Best Puppy his first weekend out, and placing 3rd in a
huge puppy class at the 2002 U.S. Nationals.
So, with Fry's "new attitude", I'm quite looking forward to
2004.
