Why is it that the good ones always seem to be snatched from us far too soon?  Sadly,  that is a question I have had to ask myself far too many times over the years.  These little white dogs have an uncanny knack for breaking your heart..again and again, it would seem.
But, to not properly pay tribute to the terriers that have had such a profound influence on every facet of not only the breeding programs, but day to day life, would be unforgiveable.  Fortunately, part of them live on through their relatives and descendents.  They are gone, but never forgotten.

Lost Acres Chigger of Sow's Ear
Little "Chiggy-monster" as she was lovingly referred to, was an 11 inch dynamo who was the most incredible little bitch to hunt with.  She got anywhere she needed to go in the field.  Sadly, that dimunitive size led to her downfall when she slipped into a muskrat hole and drowned before she could be reached.  Chigger was not quite 2 when she died, and sadly left us no children to continue on with, just memories of all the wonderful times she gave us, in the field, in the ring, and on the racetrack.

Sow's Ear Liberty
Without a doubt one of the three best terriers I have ever bred.  Had she lived, there is no question in my mind that this bitch would have ended up far better than Riot.  She was Reserve 4-6 Month Puppy her first time out, and from there never looked back, winning every 4-6 Month Puppy class she entered.  She was just starting to show incredible potential in the field when she was snatched suddenly and succumbed to a virulent strain of Lepto at just over 6 months of age.  Rarely does a puppy with this amount of potential come along.  I'm still waiting for another.

Sow's Ear Max FactorThis!
Max was diagnosed late this summer with lymphoma, and the awful decision to end his suffering was was made on August 12.  To have this "baby" taken away in the prime of his life........with such wonderful things ahead of him, was almost unbearable.  It's still a bit early to put together a tribute page for him, as the pain is yet too great.  Fortunately, I bred him early, and he did leave behind some wonderful babies.  In the coming months, I'll assemble photos of his offspring and their accomplishments.  My hope is that Max will live on through his children.  He was the sweetest, most gentle dog, and everyone just loved Max.......he is very sorely missed.
