| Another awesome bunch! And So much color!! It was
a bit of a rough start, as Riot had to be sectioned, and then poor little Mini-me weighed
only 3.9 ounces at birth, compared to his 7 1/2 -8 ounce siblings. Riot didn't have
the abundance of milk that Revlon did, so the gameplan was to wait until Revlon was full
of milk, then put little Mini-me on her to eat his fill before her puppies nursed.
Revlon seemed to know she played a very important part in whatever was going on, as she'd
be very concerned about the puppy as soon as I'd pick him out of Riot's crate.
She'd jump on the couch, lay down & let him nurse and would lick his head. She
didn't really want to diaper him, but didn't need to, as Riot was handling that end of
it. To make matters worse, Riot developed complications from the surgery on day
2, and her milk production went down even lower. If it hadn't been for Revlon,
little Mini-me, and perhaps more of the litter, might not have had enough to make it those
first critical days. Both bitches were incredibly good about whatever I had to do,
sometimes putting just Mini-me on Revlon to nurse, other times putting two of the bigger
puppies with Revlon so Riot would have more milk to go around for the rest of hers.
Both crates were side by side, and these two girls shared motherhood jus like they've
always shared everything else. Everything had leveled off now, Mini-me is over 12
ounces and is actually getting fat, and Riot is back to her old self or trying to go off
hunting every time she goes outside.
This litter too, looks exceptional. The tan & White bitch takes my breath
away, and has from the moment she was pulled out and I started to dry her off. Her
head is gorgeous, with Revlon's short strong muzzle, and she has this tight, Lakeland coat
that feels like a Brillo pad already. It's so tight & dense you cannot see her
skin! I hate to jinx her by getting so excited, but I just can't help it! She
is marked exactly like Sailor, with the exception of a spot at the root of her tail.
Needless to say, I'll be watching her closely
Little Mini-me, despite his diminutive size, is also very nice, and might be smooth.
The rest of the litter, except for the markings, are all very consistent. The
two white puppies are identical to Revlon's in type, and except for size, it's hard to
tell them apart.
My only regret is that I didn't use Turban sooner: I've always loved him and his
offspring. He has a wonderful disposition, and is a gentleman to hunt with.
This old blood is becoming harder and harder to obtain and this old stuff is where my best
terriers have come from. So now, it's time to see how they grow up.
