The "Princess" of the Jack Russells,
Revlon needs no introduction. Revlon is out of
Windermere Jazz of Lost Acres
by
Tag of Windemere, a
combination that has proven to be a magical cross in JR
breeding. She truly is a bitch that comes along but once in
one's lifetime; smooth, balanced, flawless. Revlon is the
only terrier I have ever had where I can say there is
absolutely nothing about her I would change. She is as
close to perfection as possible.
Her show ring career was nothing
short of fantastic. Very rarely does a smooth bitch
have what it takes to able to compete against, and win, over
both rough bitches and dogs. Revlon was very rarely, if
ever, out of the Championship ribbons from the very first
day she ever stepped foot into the ring.
Her accomplishments as a broodbitch
are even more impressive; the dam of
Sow's Ear White Riot, 1998
U.S. and Canadian National Champion, and
Sow's Ear Snippet,
1997 U.S.
National 4-6 Month Puppy Champion, 1999 Canadian National
Best Open Bitch and Reserve Open Terrier, & 2001 U.S.
National Reserve Working Terrier Bitch. Her look-alike
daughter Sow's Ear Solitaire was a consistent winner in the
conformation ring, having numerous working terrier
championships and reserves to her credit. Rev seems to have
a knack for producing Bronze Medallion babies!
Her flawless son,
Sow's Ear MaxFactor This!
was virtually unbeatable in conformation showing both as a
puppy and adult; tragically he was lost in August of 2002.
An incredible terrier and promising young sire....one of her
best babies ever.
Her
daughter from was supposed to be her
last litter,
Sow's Ear Reflection, may
well be the puppy that has what it takes to fill her
mother's shoes. She is simply breathtaking, and as close to
Revlon as can be possible without cloning!!
Revlon's
accomplishments in the Family Classes are unequaled; she is
the only bitch to have ever won the Brood Bitch & Produce
class for 4 consecutive years, and then each of
those years go on to win either Best Family or Reserve.
It's an unprecedented record that more than likely will
never be broken.
She is also the winner
of the Canadian National Reserve Best Family for 2000 &
2002.
She is truly unmatched as a
producer and as an individual. Very rarely, if at all,
does a bitch gain more recognition than even the most
outstanding of stud dogs, but such is the case with Revlon.
She decided to try her hand
at the Veteran Class at the 2002 Canadian National Trial,
and captured Best Veteran honors, and did the same in
2003. Perhaps even more astonishing though, was her entire
show season for 2003........at 9 1/2 years of age, Revlon
was "dusted off" and stepped back into the ring in regular
Working classes, where she was consistently winning
Working Terrier Championships and Reserves!!!
But it doesn't stop there.
True to her racing blood, she was also the 2000 U.S.
National Under Veteran Racing Champion.
Up until 9 years of age, she still remained competitive in
the Veteran racing classes, but was finally retired in 2003
due to a back injury. But even though she still can "Run,
Revy, Run!", she has passed that torch on to her daughter
Riohttp://www.sowsearfarm.com/riot3.htmt.
At
well over 10 years of age, Revlon was bred for the very last
time. Not for the sake of getting yet another litter of
puppies out of her, but because she needed to be spayed due
to her having repeated false pregnancies. Running the risk
of losing this bitch to a pyometra just isn't in the
cards! So, as long as I had to put her on the table anyway
to spay her, I decided I may as well take puppies out at the
same time.......it certainly wouldn't be any harder a
surgery on her. She was bred to
Cuchalann's
Mick, a stunning working red Lakeland bred by Dessi
Mackin in Ireland, and on July 21 gave me two beautiful
Russell bitch pups! The decision to breed her to this
fantastic red dog was really an easy one, since Mick, in my
opinion, is really nothing more than a red version of old
Sailor, who Revlon crossed so fantastically with. Time
will tell whether this cross can even come close to what she
produced with Sailor.
As a postscript of
sorts, I also decided to transfer Revlon back to Iris for
her final litter; it just seemed fitting to hope that
perhaps as this legendary Lost Acres bitch was retired,
perhaps she might be able to pass the torch onto yet another
Lost Acres bitch that would be capable of walking in her
mother's footsteps. These girls were named quite
appropriately:
Lost Acres Last Hurrah "Moth" and
Lost Acres Perfect Ending "Pretty".
My hope was that as they matured, they'd live up to those
names. And while there will never, ever be another Revlon,
her two last daughters certainly have managed to "do their
mother proud" thus far. Moth has produced some very lovely
puppies, and Miss Pretty has had a stunning show ring
career..........accumulating championship after
championship, culminating with the top honor of the
2006 JRTCA National Working Terrier Champion!!!
Amazing to think that a bitch at over 10 years of age could
still produce yet another National
Champion! Something only Revlon could accomplish! There
will never be another like her.
