Everyone who hunts should have a tiny little bitch like Snippet. At 11 1/4" with a tiny flexible chest, she slides down the smallest of earths almost effortlessly. Her drive is incredible -- she just can't stop hunting!! She is a very well put together bitch, which is why, despite her diminutive size, she does consistently well in the conformation ring. She was the '97 U.S. National 4-6 Month Puppy Champion, and the '99 Best Open Bitch & Reserve Open Terrier at the Canadian National Trial. Looking at her dam and sire, Lost Acres Revlon and Garon's Sailor....it is no wonder! Her entire conformation career has been nothing short of fantastic, winning numerous Working Terrier Championships and Reserves; usually under English judges. A tough task for such a tiny little bitch. She is without a doubt one of the winningest Sailor offspring ever. At almost 5 years of age, she was Reserve Working Terrier bitch at the 2001 U.S. Nationals, and with that win, she decided that she'd now concentrate on hunting & brood bitch duties. Her litter by Sow's Ear Taltos "Harry" produced 3 lovely bitch pups: Merrick, Honey and Sparkle. All have done extremely well in the conformation ring. Incredibly, Honey and Sparkle manage to remain competitive on the racetrack too, despite their size--or better yet, lack of it!! But it's in the field where that size really comes in handy. Sparkle has already earned her NHC, and thinks working raccoon is quite the thing. Honey slips in and out of the earth almost without effort!! Just incredible to watch. Her daughter Therrien "Terra", by Sow's Ear Lasher, is already making a name on the racetrack for herself and her owners the Waeltermans of Blackburn Kennels. This little girl is already doing extremely well in the field and should grow up to be a dynamite little bitch! The littermate, Sow's Ear Blanco has matured just as nicely. Snippet's litter by Sow's Ear Captain Morgan produced a lovely little smooth bitch pup, Sow's Ear Baby Morgan, who is very competitive on the race track despite the fact that she isn't even 12 inches! But perhaps her cutest puppy ever is Sow's Ear Steiff, who is from the AfterMax litter. I'm currently working on trying to clone this little cutie pie!!! Itty has pretty much achieved "coot status" at almost 8 years of age, and what she excels in these days is being the "Best Couch Potato". If I can get some weight off her, she might good for something other than plugging a hole; I might breed her one last time, so she can be spayed when we section her. She's had quite the impressive career, and definitely deserves to enjoy her retirement years! Itty left me and the rest of the terriers on December 30, 2008. She was in liver failure, and once again, I had to make the awful decision. She's at peace now, along with her older sister Witchy and the others. There won't ever be another Itty. Another Sailor kid has left us, never to be replaced. Steiff: Christmas 2004 |
